{"id":212,"date":"2011-01-09T22:47:01","date_gmt":"2011-01-10T02:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=212"},"modified":"2011-01-18T16:45:20","modified_gmt":"2011-01-18T20:45:20","slug":"cherin-sushi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=212","title":{"rendered":"Cherin Sushi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I realize it&#8217;s been a while since there&#8217;s been a post&#8230;. ok a long time, since Randy Moss played for the Vikings.\u00c2\u00a0 But it&#8217;s time to get back to it.\u00c2\u00a0 Anyway, on to the sushi talk!<\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s easy to find cheap sushi in New York, though it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not necessarily so easy to find good sushi on the cheap.\u00c2\u00a0 All too often I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been tempted by seemingly amazing sushi specials, only to find tough, low quality cuts of fish or fish past its prime.\u00c2\u00a0 Cherin Sushi, however, offers delicious, fresh, and creative rolls at a bargain price.<\/p>\n<p>As you get to the door of Cherin, through the front window you see a simple black rock garden.\u00c2\u00a0 Once through the door, you find yourself in a comfortably Spartan, long, dimly lit room.\u00c2\u00a0 The sushi bar itself is at the far end of the long room.\u00c2\u00a0 With only two seats, the small sushi bar, hard to see from most seats in the restaurant, may be Cherin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s biggest drawback.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s always nice to have the option to sit at the bar, talk with chef, and see the sushi being made.\u00c2\u00a0 Especially if you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re a regular talking to the sushi chef can sometimes get you the best cuts of fish and off the menu creations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2298.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-213 alignright\" title=\"Cherin 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2298-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2298-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2298.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>If you swing by Cherin any evening Monday through Saturday you can get in on a sushi early bird special. \u00c2\u00a0Mondays, the specials run from 5 until midnight, Tuesday through Thursday the special is available from 5 to 8, and Friday or Saturday the special ends by 7:30.\u00c2\u00a0 Get your soy sauce and wasabi ready for the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Diet Special\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: three rolls or one roll with six sashimi pieces for $9.95; or grab the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Dinner Special\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: four rolls or one roll with nine sashimi pieces for $12.95.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, the specials don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t include some of the fancy rolls; but they do have some deliciously innovative sushi on the list.\u00c2\u00a0 Among the standard rolls, Cherin\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s menu has some awesome house creations: the Sushi Surfer roll introduces banana to eel (an odd-sounding yet surprisingly tasty union), the Jenny roll puts a pineapple and shrimp combination in your chopsticks, and the Crunch roll adds some apple into a standard cucumber roll.\u00c2\u00a0 And during happy hour, be sure not to miss the generously priced beer and hot sake.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2297.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-214 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"Cherin 2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2297-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2297-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_2297.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Even if you think it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lame to eat dinner before eight o\u00e2\u20ac\u2122clock, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t skip over this place.\u00c2\u00a0 The non-happy hour prices still include quality rolls for less than the pre-package stuff you find in stores.\u00c2\u00a0 But wait, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s more.\u00c2\u00a0 Cheri is BYOB with no cork or cap fee and has a great liquor store with top-shelf bottles of sake just down the block.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cherin Sushi<br \/>\n306 E. 6th St.<br \/>\nNew York, NY 10003<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hours:<br \/>\nMonday-Thursday: 5pm-midnight<br \/>\nFriday &amp;
