{"id":651,"date":"2012-05-26T20:16:57","date_gmt":"2012-05-27T00:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=651"},"modified":"2012-05-28T22:58:57","modified_gmt":"2012-05-29T02:58:57","slug":"deep-dish-pizza-in-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=651","title":{"rendered":"Deep Dish Pizza in LA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/deep dish pizza at Masa of Echo Park.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-665\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"Deep Dish Pizza at Masa of Echo Park\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/475844_10151707308005158_532715157_24303183_1349183883_o-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/475844_10151707308005158_532715157_24303183_1349183883_o-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/475844_10151707308005158_532715157_24303183_1349183883_o-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/475844_10151707308005158_532715157_24303183_1349183883_o.jpg 972w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Not long ago, I was <a title=\"Where\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the Deep Dish?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=618\">lamenting\u00c2\u00a0the\u00c2\u00a0absences of deep dish pizza in New York<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0Well, take note New York,\u00c2\u00a0Los Angeles came through and delivered the king of pizzas.<\/p>\n<p>Matt (NYC based friend and LA hotel co-habitant) and I stumbled on this pizza by complete accident. \u00c2\u00a0After the wind down of \u00c2\u00a0Saturday&#8217;s events, Matt and I retired to our hotel room and flipped through channels. \u00c2\u00a0In between infomercials and even less watchable late night television, we stumbled on a food show that happened to be talking about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masaofechopark.com\/chicago-pizza.php\">deep dish pizza at Masa of Echo Park<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0The next morning, a little Google map research revealed that Masa was just off our route to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HL_WvOly7mY&amp;ob=av2n\">Beverly Hills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We sat at the bar and ordered an onion and sweet sausage pizza. \u00c2\u00a0During our 40 minute wait for the pizza (deep dish takes its time) we sampled a house IPA.
