{"id":725,"date":"2012-08-15T12:52:19","date_gmt":"2012-08-15T16:52:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=725"},"modified":"2012-08-15T17:17:48","modified_gmt":"2012-08-15T21:17:48","slug":"voodoo-rogues-bacon-maple-ale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/?p=725","title":{"rendered":"Voodoo: Rogue&#8217;s Bacon Maple Ale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Rogues-Bacon-Maple-Ale.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Rogues-Bacon-Maple-Ale1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-727\" title=\"Rogue's Bacon Maple Ale\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Rogues-Bacon-Maple-Ale1-241x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"174\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Rogues-Bacon-Maple-Ale1-241x300.jpg 241w, https:\/\/www.eatcooklive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Rogues-Bacon-Maple-Ale1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 174px) 100vw, 174px\" \/><\/a>There are very few I would trust to make a drinkable bacon beer. \u00c2\u00a0The beer nuts over at <a href=\"http:\/\/rogue.com\/about\/about.php\">Rouge Ales<\/a> are among of those few.<\/p>\n<p>Much like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dogfish.com\/\">Dogfish Head<\/a>, Rouge Ales is willing nurture and execute insane beer ideas. \u00c2\u00a0While the mad scientist\u00c2\u00a0concoctions may not fit my everyday drinking style (or budget), \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m constantly impressed by the expanded conceptions of beer. \u00c2\u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/rogue.com\/beers\/voodoo-bacon-maple.php\">Bacon Maple Ale<\/a>&#8211;ingredients\u00c2\u00a0including Briess Cherrywood Smoked Malt, Weyermann Beechwood Smoked Malt, House-smoked Hickory Malt, and Applewood-Smoked Bacon&#8211;was no exception.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Appearance: \u00c2\u00a0Rusty haze.<\/p>\n<p>Smell: \u00c2\u00a0Maple and a lot of smoke. \u00c2\u00a0Like opening a pack of quality thick-cut smoked bacon.<\/p>\n<p>Taste: \u00c2\u00a0My first thought actually wasn&#8217;t bacon, but breakfast sausage drizzled in maple syrup. \u00c2\u00a0As I tasted and smelled the bacon flavor grew into a sweet and savory combo. \u00c2\u00a0However, as the beer warmed, a sharp bitter finish began to develop.<\/p>\n<p>Mouth: \u00c2\u00a0Medium carbonation. \u00c2\u00a0A little creamy.<\/p>\n<p>Overall: \u00c2\u00a0This beer is a ton of fun. \u00c2\u00a0Though the bitter finish rains on the parade a bit. \u00c2\u00a0I can&#8217;t see myself drinking this often, but feel it would make a great morning beer with a plate of eggs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are very few I would trust to make a drinkable bacon beer. \u00c2\u00a0The beer nuts over at Rouge Ales are among of those few.
